Do
you have a desire to help your community? Do you have a desire to
better yourself? Do you want to seek a medical or even military
career?
If you can answer yes to any of these questions Dante Rescue Squad can offer
this to you and so much more. There are many ways to be a part of
Dante Rescue Squad so that anyone can volunteer their time. Below are
a brief description of the types of membership available.
*You do not have to live in the Dante area to join. We have had
members and currently have members from several counties and even other
states. Members can choose to stay at the station day or night.
We have a station that was built in 2007 outside of St. Paul and we are
currently looking to build a new station in Dante to be completed as early
in 2011 as possible.*
Active Membership-
This is for the full, hands-on experience. You must be at least 18
years of age to apply for this type of membership. After being
accepted and doing your orientation you will be responding to emergencies
and other events in the community with our other providers. Thinking
about a career change or still hunting for that career? This is the
way to find out if a medical career and especially emergency medicine is for
you. Dante Rescue Squad will also pay for a variety of training
opportunities to better help yourself, the squad and the community.
Junior Membership-
This is for people at least 16 years of age and less than 18 years of age.
You will have similar opportunities to what the Active Membership does.
For students considering medical careers, military careers and even 4 year
colleges you should really consider doing this.
There is no better way to get a taste of the medical
field than pre-hospital care. You will be the first person to care for
the sick and injured. There have been several nurses and professional
EMS providers and even professional fireman that started in our Junior
Membership. We have even had two doctors that were part of our junior
membership. One of which has stayed local to the area and still
responds to emergencies and also is our Medical Director.
Thinking of joining the military after high school?
Get a taste of a structured organization and participate in a skill that
requires teamwork. Get a head start with medical knowledge if you plan
on seeking a medical job within a branch of the military.
Looking at going to college? Even if your not
looking at a medical career a lot of colleges have pre-requisites of
volunteer or community service hours and this is an excellent way to do
that.
Auxiliary Membership- Do you want to be a
part of our organization or help your community and being in the back of an
ambulance is not for you? The station still has to be kept clean and
maintained. Ambulances have to be kept clean and stocked. We do
a few fund raisers each year and need manpower for those. We have
dinners at the station occasionally for meetings or other events that
require assistance in cooking. You can also respond to emergencies at
your discretion.
Associate Membership- You must be at least
18 years of age for this type of membership. Do you volunteer with
another agency providing EMS but still want to help? Unfortunately we
prohibit members that have voting privileges at other EMS agencies from
having voting privileges here due to we feel it is a conflict of interest.
You have less responsibility and less amount of time required to put in as
we understand you have responsibilities elsewhere.

Have enough information? Click

will be voted on at our next meeting.
